The Lynn LaForge-Tieman Fund provides grants through to selected organizations that are furthering research into and programs for adults with autism. The Fund was established in 2008 with a $2 million grant from Hans Tieman, Lynn’s husband. Its intent is to continue Lynn’s work developing support for adults with autism.
The Lynn LaForge-Tieman Fund for Autism supports autistic young adults by funding research and programs that are geared to their unique needs. The Fund is an extension of the life and passion of Lynn LaForge-Tieman, who wanted a full life for her son James.
The Tieman fund for Autism donated $25,000 to AAFS for 2011. The money has allowed us to create a new Program Coodinator position which will have a focus on developing and implementing programs aimed at Adults on the Autism Spectrum.
Our Adult programs include:
- Leadership Club
- Pub Nights
- GO (with Autism Calgary Association and Calgary Alternative Support Services)
- The Buddy Club
- Art in Action Self Advocacy Program
and coming soon.....Specialzied Jobs for Specialized Talents. A vocational program that will teach our Adults to aim high.
