AAFS Programs

Bear with us as we update this page with current information!!

At AAFS, our programs are ever changing and we are always developing new programs from ideas given to us by our members.

Our programs operate under a few basic "umbrella's"

Specialized Programs

Bridging the gap between fun and educational to create something so much more, these programs are long-running continuous experiences with a very specific focus in mind. Specialized programs include Movie Project, Earn-A-Bike, Parkour, Gardening, Comic Creating Club and more; attendees will work with many of the same staff and fellow youth each week as they learn a brand-new skill or refine an existing one. This umbrella includes some of our longest-running and flagship programs here at AAFS.

Community Outings

At AAFS, one of our primary goals is to immerse our kids in the community around them. Over the years, AAFS members have had opportunities to engage in almost every recreational event and activity that Calgary has to offer! AAFS takes full advantage of the belief that our community is the largest and most dynamic classroom, and exploring that classroom can teach almost any lesson.

Clubhouse Nights

Club nights are evenings spent hanging out with friends at the AAFS office. They're fun, they're unique, and they're always changing - though the one thing they all have in common is their goal of seeing traditionally solo activities turned into social opportunities. AAFS members will learn the subtle, fundamental skills of turn-taking, sportsmanship, and sharing - as well as gain an often-overlooked yet invaluable understanding of what it is to simply 'hang out'.

Specialized Care Programs

(After School, Before and After Program Care, PD Days etc.)

AAFS After School program is THE place to be between class and dinner time, meeting every Monday through Thursday from 3 to 6pm at the AAFS Clubhouse - but we don't just open our doors to the school-aged kids who need a safe place to be between school and home time, we also offer flexible pick-up and drop-off times for any and all activities where it might be needed. This service is offered for PD days as well, and any specific needs that your family may have can be worked out with our staff by simply contacting the office in regards to the activity in question.

Some programs being developed right now are:

  • The Band Project.

  • Dance/Movement/Music.

  • More Arts Based Self Advocacy.

  • Domestic and International Travel.

  • After School Respite.

  • Workout and Exercise.

  • Specialized Recreational Program.

If there is a program you would like to see, just let us know!
